Merx Truck & Trailer, Inc. is a growing fleet maintenance business seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant with an in-depth understanding of accounting principles and company practices. The Senior Accountant will assume a leadership role to guide accounting personnel in daily tasks. Will be required to perform complex accounting activities and financial analysis. The senior accountant’s responsibilities include performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assist in preparing tax returns and audit preparations. The Senior Accountant will be instrumental in setting up a stand-alone accounting department for this company.

To be successful as a senior accountant, you should have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and strong financial analysis skills. An outstanding senior accountant should also possess expert Excel skills, be meticulous, highly organized, and able to work with little to no supervision and perform under pressure. This position must ensure first-class financial management and accounting across company entities. The candidate must display integrity and have a desire for professional growth.

Senior Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate workflow processes and procedures to develop, recommend and implement procedural and system changes to increase accuracy and efficiencies
  • Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures
  • Coordinating accounting functions and programs
  • Preparing financial analyses and reports
  • Performing various analyses and preparing account reconciliations
  • Preparing revenue projections and forecasting expenditure
  • Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets
  • Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
  • Assisting with annual audit preparations
  • Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance
  • Assist in preparing federal, state, local, and special tax returns
  • Performing other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as required or assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Senior Accountant Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • 7+ years of accounting experience
  • General ledger accounting
  • Strength in regulatory reporting
  • Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational and stress management skills
  • Expert in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience with Paylocity Payroll & Time and Labor
  • Ability to train and manage staff
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision

Hardware/Software:

Exceptional computer skills in the operation and functioning of all accounting and financial programs used by the organization, i.e., Chrome, Microsoft Word, Excel, Paylocity, McLeod, PowerPoint

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Accounting Staff and Accounts Payable staff

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, math, business administration or related field

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in the accounting and finance
  • 3+ years in a position equivalent to a Senior Accountant or higher level
  • CPA or CMA a plus
  • Experience in the Transportation and Logistics industry a plus
  • Experience with McLeod a plus

Salary Range:  68-80K

Fleet Mechanic

The successful incumbent will perform truck and trailer repair and maintenance work in     accordance with Merx Truck and Trailer Inc., and industry standards, run diagnostics and work closely with other team members to meet company goals.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Perform minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance and repairs to truck braking systems in accordance with the DOT’s guidelines
  • Understand  and work with truck electrical systems including batteries, charging, and starting systems
  • Schedule  and conduct  regular preventive maintenance and inspections on trucks  and performs  tire rotation and oil changes
  • Replace tires and suspension components
  • Uses diagnostic tools to perform troubleshooting  and regular diagnostic tests on trucks
  • Document findings on work order and maintain accurate records of preventive  maintenance logs, repair orders and other paperwork
  • Maintain  safe and clean work environment
  • Deadline and detail-oriented, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Follow the directions of Shop Foreman and Manager

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Excellent reading and writing skills
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Fleet Mechanic

 

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Know-how of  OSHA and DOT regulations
  • Highly organized self-starter with the ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Positive, collaborative, flexible, can-do attitude

Physical Demands and Working Conditions 

  • Skills, adeptness, and speed in the use of fingers, hands and/or limbs on repetitive operation of mechanical or electrical repair shop machines and tools
  • Physical ability to lift and carry objects weighing approximately 60 plus pounds
  • Move, load or unload material and parts for  trucks and trailers
  • Push and maneuver heavy objects using carts, dollies, or dumpsters weighing up to 250 pounds.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, cleaning solvents, battery acids, and exhaust fumes
